The Inquiry-Based Learning: Active Citizenship Project unlocks children’s curiosity and passion for learning through activities that take their natural sense of inquisitiveness as the motivating force for learning. In September 2019, children had the opportunity to become active agents in their learning and development, under the guidance of trained volunteers who created an enabling environment for self-directed learning. In this unit of inquiry, 51 children explored three dimensions: the freedom/liberty dimension, the independence dimension and the active citizenship dimension. Music, theatre, storytelling, magazines, painting, field trips, creative writing and research were all mediums used either as exploration or presentation tools. The children’s inquiries were actively collected and documented.
