Art, sports, theater, music and computer were offered at the summer club in Ezbet Khairallah, which took place at Fuad Jalal Elementary School, in partnership with “Khair and Baraka Association”. The summer club benefited more than 300 of Ezbet Khairallah’s children.

Playback Theater and the Theater of the Oppressed, in partnership with Ruwwad, used the stories and community issues of the participants to create theater performances, to serve as a means of presenting how the different tools of expression through art can be used for problem solving.

Self-exploration and accepting and respecting the other were the main focus of the winter camp implemented in five of Ezbet Khairallah schools, reaching 900 children, while utilizing educational games, art and videos.

The summer camp was the first activity for Ruwwad’s Child Program, implemented inside primary schools in Ezbet Khairalla. The summer camp led by Ruwwad youth scholars benefited 1500 children, engaging them in educational activities through games, arts and storytelling.

A new theater in Ezbet Khairallah was established in partnership with “Mahatat” for Contemporary Arts and Tawasol Association. Fifteen volunteers and 10 children from Ezbet Khairallah participated in the process of establishing the theater over the course of 15 days.

Celebrating five years of work in Ezbet Khairallah, Ruwwad’s Day carried the theme “Bishababha” (the Arabic for “Youth Spirit”) as a way of recognizing the tremendous accomplishments of Ruwwad’s youth in Ezbet Khairallah. To date, Ruwwad Egypt, which operates a youth and community center in one of Cairo’s biggest informal settlements, has partnered with 265 youth scholars.
